I. Introduction to the Workstation

Directly affiliated to the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR (formerly the Second Institute of Oceanography of the State Oceanic Administration) was established in 1966 and is located on the bank of West Lake in Hangzhou. It is mainly engaged in marine scientific researches on China seas, oceans and polar regions as well as the R&D and application of high technology for marine environmental protection and resources exploration. It is a large-scale public welfare marine research institute with outstanding scientific and technological strength, advanced technical equipment, excellent talent team, significant disciplinary advantages, strong scientific and technological independent innovation ability in China.

The Postdoctoral Research Workstation of the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR (the “Workstation”), was established in November 2003 and began to recruit postdoctoral researchers in 2004. The workstation carries out postdoctoral researches relying on the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, Key Laboratory of Submarine Geosciences, MNR, Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, MNR, Key Laboratory of Marine Ecosystem Dynamics, MNR, and Key Laboratory of Engineering Oceanography. After more than ten years of development, the workstation has formed an excellent team of cooperative tutors with rich research work and graduate guidance experience, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 special experts of Zhejiang Province, 2 talents with the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 3 talents of National Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project, 7 talents of National High-Level Talent Special Support Program, 2 talents with the National Outstanding Youth Fund as well as more than 30 winners of various national, provincial and ministerial talent projects. With advanced technology and equipment, numerous scientific research projects and a large number of achievements in marine scientific research and development, a platform has been built for high-level young scientific and technological talents, who aspire to further deepen marine scientific research, to give full play to and show their talents.

In recent years, more than 50% of postdoctoral fellows in the workstation have won funding from provincial and ministerial projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and the Zhejiang Postdoctoral Research Project Selection Funding. Among them, three postdoctoral fellows have been funded by the National Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program. The workstation was rated as Excellent in comprehensive evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Office of China Postdoc Council in 2015 and 2020, and was awarded the title of Zhejiang 2020 Excellent Postdoctoral Research Workstation by the Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department.

II. Recruitment Conditions

1. Observe laws and disciplines, and have good moral character;

2. In good health, generally under the age of 35;

3. Obtain a doctoral degree for no more than 3 years;

4. Possess solid professional basic knowledge, strong scientific research, teamwork and communication skills, and abide by academic ethics;

5. The research work to be carried out is basically consistent with the research direction of our postdoctoral recruitment and is innovative.

III. Salary and Welfare Benefits

1. Project funding: Currently, each laboratory has sufficient scientific research funds to support postdoctoral research work, and cooperative tutors will guide the postdoc to apply for various fund projects from the state, the province, the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR, etc.

2. Salary and benefits: In accordance with the management regulations on postdoctoral fellows in the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR, the treatment of one person one discussion is practiced. After full-time postdoctoral fellows enter the workstation, their income will be increased based on their achievements and academic contributions, with an average annual income starting from $22000-$32000. If the funding from the National Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program or other postdoctoral talent programs is successfully applied, the corresponding funding benefits can be stacked without limit.

3. Period in the workstation: 2-4 years, flexibly determined according to research project needs.

4. Other welfare benefits: Comfortable postdoctoral apartments will be provided in accordance with the management regulations on postdoctoral fellows in the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR; Non-staff postdoctoral fellows enjoy the same medical security benefits as our regular employees.

IV. Recruitment Time
