The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The Institute of Microelectronics (IME) invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in the following discipline:

  • Applied Microelectronics for Analog and Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits, including Integrated Circuits and Systems, THz Circuits, Photonic Integrated Circuits, SerDes, Memory Circuits and Computer Architecture
  • High-voltage ICs, Gallium-Nitride (GaN) and Silicon-Carbide (SiC) driver ICs and monolithic GaN ICs
  • Imagers, Micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) for sensing, energy harvesting, and robots
  • Galvanic isolation
  • Advanced packaging, 3D packaging, design and modeling of passive components
  • EDA Tools and Design Methodologies

With research and talent nurturing as its goals, IME will carry out the cutting-edge R&D of microelectronic technology, serve the Greater Bay Area and run courses. Academic staff of IME can access to the resources of the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI (SKL-AMSV), including the SKL-AMSV Operating Fund supported by the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT). Academic staff of IME will be allocated to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST-ECE) as home unit. Academic staff can conduct academic activities (teaching, PhD students supervision) under FST-ECE. The Shanghai Ranking of “Electrical and Electronic Engineering” of UM is 51-75.

Qualifications

  • A PhD degree in Microelectronics or related disciplines;
  • A track record of recognized publications (e.g., JSSC, ISSCC, IEEE Transactions, SCI Q1 Journals of related disciplines) and relevant teaching experience.
  • The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2024.

    Remuneration

    A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
