The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) at the University of Luxembourg is seeking an enthusiastic team member for the following position:

*Scientific Software developer*

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Luxembourg. LCSB develops and applies systems-level approaches to gain insight into the molecular and cellular mechanisms of human diseases. Experimental and computational approaches are combined to analyse the complexity of biological systems underlying disease pathogenesis. The LCSB is pioneering the way for a predictive, preventive and personalised medicine. Neurodegenerative diseases, especially Parkinson’s disease are major targets within LCSB’s research activities.

For our research activities and projects, we are looking for a scientific application developer to work on different applications developed in-house including text-mining pipelines, scientific data integration and analysis platforms and data protection tools. The position also involves some data curation and integrations activities.

*Your Role*

* Research existing technologies and contribute to technology, benchmarks, selection and methodologies to apply to new and ongoing research projects
* Conceptually design IT solutions within research projects
* Contribute to the collection of users’ requirements and design of new features
* Write reliable and efficient code for both software development and scientific data integration ETLs
* Contribute to research, new approaches and IT solutions in scientific areas such as data curation, standardization and data integration
* Work closely with other team members aiming for a high level of quality and user satisfaction
* Design and develop tests using test automation suits
* Contribute to research and scientific developments in our research group
* Become a key actor of continuous improvement and innovation within the group

*Your Profile*

* An interest in state-of-the-art technologies
* Autonomous, dynamic and curious
* Knowledge of the following technologies:
o Python
o JavaScript
o HTML/CSS
o DBMS
o ETL
* A Master degree is required in computer science, engineering or in another field but with equivalent proven experience as software developer
* Expertise in the following is considered an advantage but is NOT mandatory:
o Domain knowledge of biomedical data
o Ontologies and data models
o MVC framework such as Flask or Django
o ORMs such as SQLAlchemy
o jQuery, Vue.js or React
o NoSQL databases
o Production-level software project including unit testing and using Agile principles
o REST APIs
o Solr or/and Elastic
o Linux shell
o Continuous integration / delivery
