The University of Luxembourg is seeking to hire a highly motivated and outstanding researcher in the area of Signal Processing for 5G Non-Terrestrial
Networks for its Interdisciplinary Centre of Security and Trust (SnT), within the Signal Processing and Communications (SigCom) research group, led by
Prof. Björn Ottersten and Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas.

SnT carries out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) systems and services,
often in collaboration with governmental, industrial, and international partners. SnT is active in several national projects funded by National
Research Fund (FNR) and local industries, and international research projects funded by the EU FP7 program, H2020 program, and the European Space Agency

The SigCom research group carries out research activities in the areas of signal processing for wireless communication systems including satellite
communications and radar systems and is currently expanding its research activities in exploring several emerging use cases of next-generation wireless

Your Role...
The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Björn Ottersten and Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas to work on one or more
of the following areas:

o Research on the integration of 5G NR with Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) focused on:
o MIMO, Beamforming, Precoding
o Ultra-reliable and low-latency communications
o Mobile edge computing
o 5G and Health Regulations
o Beyond-Line-Of-Sight control of 5G-assisted UAVs
o Demonstration of SDR-based 5G-nodes prototypes
o Opening his/her research line in synergy with the currents research projects

The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:

o Researching the predefined areas
o Participating in research proposal drafting and project deliverables
o Collaborate in ongoing ESA, European, and national projects
o Disseminating results through scientific publications and conference presentations
o Assisting in the organization of relevant workshops and demos
o Assisting in the supervision of Ph.D. students

Your Profile...
o A Ph.D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/engineering with a focus on wireless
communications.
o A proven record of accomplishment in the areas of Terrestrial Wireless Communications with a focus on physical layers of LTE and 5G NR.
o Knowledge of higher-layer signaling processes in LTE and 5G protocol.

Experience:

The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and experience in a number of the following topics:

o Experience with developments or use of Openairinterface5G (OAI)/SRS-LTE
o Knowledge of 3GPP standards for LTE and 5G NR (releases 14-17)
o Hands-on experience with Software Defined Radio platform such as USRPs or others
o Strong software development and debugging skills using C/C++ (mandatory)

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
