The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers four Bachelor and 15 Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

The successful applicant will be affiliated with the Institute for Teaching and Learning situated within the Department of Education and Social Work (DESW). S/he will be part of a team in the dynamic organizational context of a growing globally-connected research university. The postdoctoral researcher will work in an educational research team led by Dr. Christina Siry, in a project that will develop and implement a module for in-service (cycle 1) teachers on STEAM education. The ideal candidate has experiences in elementary or early childhood teacher education, interests in STEAM related topics, and would like to contribute to an international and multilingual team.


Your Role...

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Christina Siry, the successful candidate will:

  • co-develop and co-teach a STEAM professional development (PD) module for cycle 1 teachers and educators,
  • conduct education research related to the development and implementation of the PD module;
  • communicate and collaborate with the SciTeach Center research team, including partner teachers and student assistants,
  • assist with administrative and organisational tasks;
  • organise and participate in project-related events;
  • collect, interpret, and analyse related data resources;
  • support the development of scientific articles for publication and dissemination;
  • disseminate results at international scientific conferences/workshops.

What we expect from you…

The ideal candidate should have:

  • completed PhD related to the field of education;
  • experience supporting and conceptualizing research projects in educational sciences;
  • Project management and administrative skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Fluent written and spoken language skills in English and Luxembourgish or German;
  • experience in early childhood or elementary education and / or teacher education,
  • a publication record that includes single and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in English;
  • experience with interpretive qualitative research approaches and collaborative analyses and writing;
  • experience in STEAM related education foci will be considered an advantage
  • knowledge of the Luxembourgish education system and the formal settings of science education in primary schools will be considered an advantage.
