Deadline: 31 Dec 2018

The University of Luxembourg is a multilingual, international research University.

The University of Luxembourg is looking for its Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication (FSTC) for a

Postdoctoral Researcher in Civil Engineering (M/F)

•             Ref : 50013870- (R-AGR-3265-10-C)

•             Fixed-term contract for 2 years, extendable up to 40 months

•             Full-time (40 hours/week)

•             Starting Early 2019

•             Employee status

The successful applicant will co-coordinate a group of 6 doctoral students that work under the supervision of different professors in the framework of the EU funded project Eco-Construction for Sustainable Development (ECON4SD).

Project :

Eco-Construction for Sustainable Development (ECON4SD)

Sub-project :

Development of new structural composite flooring systems based on the construction materials concrete - timber and concrete – steel

Your role

Holistic interpretation of the results of all previous work packages and development of a material and component bank leading to a pilot of CE material / component passport for a virtual building.

Description

Within this work package all information from the project is centralised, analysed and prepared. The principles of modular, re-usable eco-construction will be applied to a virtual building by using the developed structural components and methods of one sub-project. The new developed components with their connections will be implemented on a virtual building, which is based on architectural typologies developed within the framework of another sub-project. A life cycle analysis on the level of this pilot building will be performed. To separate the service life of a building from the service life of the materials / components of a building all relevant information must remain accessible over the service life of a building. Therefore, the applicability of monitoring systems in structural components by internal electronic chips (RFID) which are readable from the outside, thereby guaranteeing a provision of all relevant information for a reconstruction or reutilisation in future, will be developed and tested. At the end, a pilot of CE material / component passport will be prepared. Furthermore, an analysis of the current market on demand, sales potentials, competitors and a supply chain will be performed in order to develop marketing strategies for the circular economy of buildings.
