The University | About us…
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character. The University was
founded in 2003 and counts more than 6,700 students and more than 2,000 employees from around the world. The University focuses among others
on cross-disciplinary research in the areas of Data Modelling and Simulation as well as Health and System Biomedicine. Times Higher Education ranks the
University of Luxembourg #3 worldwide for its “international outlook,” #20 in the Young University Ranking 2021 and among the top 250 universities
worldwide.

The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) was created within the Health Technologies Initiative from the Government of Luxembourg as one of
the research priorities of the University of Luxembourg. The LCSB is an Interdisciplinary Centre of the University independent of the faculties. It
combines experimental and computational approaches to analyze complex biological systems and disease processes from a systems biology perspective. The
Computational Biology Group (CBG) provides the LCSB with a solid infrastructure in developing theoretical framework for computational modeling on
biomedical problems, especially in the area of network biology. The CBG group includes researchers with theoretical, computational and wet lab
backgrounds, thereby providing an unique interdisciplinary environment.

Your Role…
The Computational Biology Group seeks a highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on an exciting project that aims at developing a
computational framework for modeling inter-cellular interactions to understand the mechanisms of inflammation in aging and disease. In particular, the
successful candidate will develop cell-cell interaction models, using network-based computational approaches and single-cell transcriptomics data.
Furthermore, the candidate will build data-driven computational models for cell population dynamics and designing intervention strategies. The topics of
the research project include the prediction of candidate therapeutic targets for alleviating periodic, noninfectious fever episodes of unknown origin in
pediatric patients in collaboration with clinicians in Germany. Finally, the candidate will participate in the project management and planning, including
supervision of Ph.D. students.

What we expect from you…
Essential skills and qualities:

* Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science or related disciplines
* Strong computational skills (demonstrable project in the relevant field)
* A strong first-author publication record in the relevant field
* Excellent working knowledge in English

Ideal skills:

* A record of first-author publications in the fields of bioinformatics and/or computational biology
* Prior experience in mathematical modeling of biological networks

We offer…

* Opportunity to do highly interdisciplinary research and solve complex biomedical problems within a highly dynamic research institution (LCSB) and in
collaboration with internationally recognized partners
* An international and multi-lingual environment

In Short…
* Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract 12 Month (extension possible)
* Work Hours: Full Time 40.0 Hours per Week
