Post-doctoral researcher in Labour Economics

The Department of Economics and Management of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher to conduct research in labour economics with emphasis on intergenerational mobility.

The position is part of the FNR funded project ORIGINS – Social Origins and Intergenerational Persistence of Socioeconomic Outcomes, a joint project between the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and VIVE-The Danish Center for Social Science Research. The aim of the project is to study the influence of social origins on individual socioeconomic trajectories deploying high quality register data from Denmark. The postdoctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professor Konstantinos Tatsiramos and will become a member of the project team including Professor Paul Bingley (VIVE) and Professor Lorenzo Cappellari (LISER and Università Cattolica Milano). In particular, the Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to

• Develop and conduct innovative research in labour economics with a focus on intergenerational mobility;
• Assist in the research objectives of the ORIGINS project;
• Disseminate research through scientific publications and contributions to conferences and workshops;
• Interact with other members of the project team and participate in project meetings.

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Economics (or close to graduation) preferably with a specialization in labour economics.

In particular, the following requirements apply

• Strong interest in empirical research in labour economics;
• Proven ability to autonomously conduct research at a post-doctoral level;
• Excellent quantitative skills and experience working with data, ideally with administrative data;
• Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
• Willingness to work in an inter-cultural and international environment;
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
