Post-doctoral position in structured illumination microscopy

Updated: over 1 year ago
Deadline: ;

ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The successful candidate will be joining the SLN - Team Loza group led by Dr. Pablo Loza-Alvarez. ICFO’s Super-Resolution Light Microscopy and Nanoscopy lab (SLN, http://sln.icfo.eu) is equipped with cutting-edge optical microscopy techniques. We perform continuous development to constantly improve the specifications of our microscopes to supply unique features. Our systems include confocal and multiphoton, light-sheet fluorescence (LSFM), super resolution (STED and STORM) and Raman microscopy. The research programs at the SLN cover a wide range of applications including the visualization of subcellular components, cells, tissues, organs, and model organisms. We collaborate with industry, hospitals, and research centres.

This position will be dedicated to the research lines developed within the HORIZON EIC Pathfinder Open project called "A multiplexed biomimetic imaging platform for assessing single cell plasticity and scoring of tumour malignancy" (PLAST_CELL). This is the framework of a joint effort between 3 other academic institutions (Centre de Regulacio Genomica, CRG; Institut Mar De Investigacions Mediques, IMIM; European Molecular Biology Laboratory, EMBL) and 1 industrial partner (Cherry Biotech).

The project aims at developing a microfluidics-based imaging platform to categorize and score cancer cell plasticity within diverse physiologically relevant 3D biomimetic culture conditions. In particular, the successful candidate at ICFO will be working on developing a fast live cell structured illumination microscope, combined with automated brightfield imaging in 3D biomimetic platforms.
