Intern in the field of transportation/reinforcement learning research (f/m)

  • Ref: 22-36

  • Starting date: between January and March 2023

  • Duration: 3-4 months

  • Full-time or part-time

LISER is looking for a motivated student to join the research teams at the Department of Urban Development and Mobility at LISER and the MobiLab at the University of Luxembourg within the framework of the research project « Multimodal Electric VEhicle demand RESponsive Transport (M-EVRST) ».

This internship will provide you with the opportunity to :

  • Deepen your knowledge of deep learning and reinforcement learning ;

  • Improve your methodological and programming skills in machine learning, applied mathematics, and operations research ;

  • Develop a rigorous scientific research attitude and methods for solving challenging optimization problems ;

  • Actively participate in a stimulating research environment and innovative project teams.

Your role

  • Study deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and its applications in the transportation domain.

  • Develop a deep reinforcement learning approach for dynamic charging scheduling of electric fleet.

  • Implement the developed algorithms (MATLAB or others); test their performance and compare them with state-of-the-art methodologies using numerical test instances.

  • Academic research paper writing

Your profile

  • Master student in Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline ;

  • Good background in mathematics and/or operations research ;

  • Good programming skills in MATLAB or other languages ;

  • Fluency (oral and written) in English, any other language would be considered as an asset.

We offer

A mandatory internship agreement for a period of 3-4 months, full-time/part-time, in a dynamic and challenging international research environment.
