Research Officer/Assistant Research Officer/Post-doctoral Fellow (RO/ARO/PDF) in Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 516393) (to commence as soon as possible on a one- or two-year temporary basis for PDF, or a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed-term basis for RO/ARO, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants are preferred to have a Ph.D. degree in biological/biomedical sciences. They should have knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology and mammalian cell culture. They should be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese) and able to work independently and as a team. Experience in stem cell research, next generation sequencing, and writing research grant proposal will be an advantage. The appointee will participate in a 3-year ITF-funded research project which uses human-induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes as a disease model and for drug screening to study muscular dystrophies. He/She will plan and execute the research; prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for RO, or up to 10% of basic salary for ARO. For RO, housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
