Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 513845), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics.  The appointee will conduct research on the general area of quantum dynamics and transport in solid state as well as cold atom systems. The current topics of interest include:

  • Transport and dynamics in topological materials, in particular when magnetic orders are important;
  • Transport in strongly correlated materials in confined geometry or with large internal degrees of freedom such as those appearing in certain Mott insulators or cold atom systems; 
  • The research will be supported by a multi-university collaboration project that includes staff members from the University of Hong Kong (Professors Shen Shunqing, Chen Gang, Wang Chenjie and Zhang Shizhong).     A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
