Department: School of Biological Sciences (26000)
Categories: Academic-related Staff
Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Biological Sciences (Ref.: 516302), to commence as soon as possible for three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Plant Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Strong expertise in molecular biology and experience in research on model and crop plants are essential. Research experience in plant physiology and crop biology is preferred. They should have independent research abilities with strong research interest, ambitious scientific goals, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and cooperate with a team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
The appointee will work under the supervision of Dr. Peng Wang to study the molecular mechanisms of plant photosynthesis and plastid biogenesis. Dr. Wang’s team uses modern molecular biology and biochemical techniques, proteomics/metabolomics, and transgenic/knockout plant models to investigate mechanisms that control various aspects of plastid biogenesis, such as photosynthetic pigment metabolism, plastid proteostasis, plastid signaling in the context of climate change. For more information regarding the research, please visit https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=2dmih3gAAAAJ&hl=en . Background of research can also be found in the Dr. Wang’s recent publications (Nature Plants 2021, 7, 1420–1432, doi.: https://doi.org/10.1038/s41477-021-00994-y ; Nature Communications 2020, 11, 1254, doi.: https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-020-14992-9 ; Trends Plant Sci 2021, 26, 5, doi.: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tplants.2020.12.005 ).
