Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Geophysics (Seismology) in the Department of Earth Sciences (Ref. 517412), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree with a strong background in ambient noise seismology, adjoint tomography and/or a good working knowledge of deep learning. In addition, an excellent command of written and spoken English is desirable.

The appointee will join the seismology group led by Dr. Xin Liu ([email protected] ). He/She will study interferometric seismic adjoint/attenuation tomography and seismicity using either ocean/land seismometers deployed near subduction zone, fault zone or sedimentary basin, and should be familiar with numerical methods for partial differential equations (PDEs), deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow or Pytorch) and introductory functional analysis.
