Kent Business School (KBS) is seeking to appoint a Professor or Reader with an Associate Dean of Education and UG Student Experience role running alongside to provide strategic leadership in education and UG student experience across the School. You will lead the development and implementation of the School’s educational and student experience strategy in line with University ambitions to improve the quality of the overall student experience, extend the student educational offer and grow student income. This appointment includes an underlying substantive and on-going post of Professor in the Kent Business School. The Professorial post is the one to which, subject to renewal of this Associate Dean appointment, the role-holder will return at the end of the three year tenure. Candidates for the Associate Dean role will be fully research active academics and will continue being research active while holding the role.

As Professor and Associate Dean you will provide leadership to deliver enhancements in pedagogy and student experience. You will also ensure academics input into the management of academic quality assurance within the School, give clear guidance on programme management and approval, and ensure adherence to the University’s Code of Practice for Quality Assurance.

You will work directly and effectively with education leads within the School to coordinate all aspects of the undergraduate taught education and with TEF leads to ensure that TEF submissions and action plans are robust.

This post will be based at both the Canterbury and Medway campuses.

As Professor and Associate Dean you will:
• Lead undergraduate education and student experience activity across the School
• manage quality assurance for the School’s programmes and modules, and other relevant policies and processes, to ensure compliance
• Represent the School on relevant committees and panels

To succeed in this role you will have:
• A PhD in a relevant area (or equivalent professional qualification) and a relevant teaching qualification (PGCHE) or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)*
• Evidence of a track record of providing strategic and visionary direction in the development of education and pedagogy
• Knowledge and awareness of the broad context of Higher Education and government policy in the UK the current and forthcoming challenges and opportunities it presents.
