[Background of the recruitment and description of the project]
* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
[Research Field]
RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS), led by Center Director Satoshi Matsuoka, is an international hub for computational science that promotes "science of computing, by computing, and for computing." R-CSS positions the technology in which RIKEN has strengths (R-CCS technology) and the software developed by RIKEN that contributes to science, technology, industry, and society (R-CCS software) as its "core competence in computational science driving science as a whole." R-CCS aims to develop these technologies, disseminate them domestically and internationally, and produce results. In addition, R-CCS utilizes its expertise to operate the supercomputer Fugaku, developed as Japan's national project, in accordance with relevant ordinances.

HPC- and AI-driven Drug Development Platform Division aims to develop new methodologies that integrate AI, molecular simulations, and experiments to create an integrated HPC- and AI-driven life science platform that will lead to new frontiers in life science, drug discovery, and medicine. Medicinal Chemistry Applied AI Unit aims to improve the time required and cost of the hit-to-lead and lead optimization process (so-called medicinal chemistry process) by AI. The cause of the increased time and cost of the medicinal chemistry process is the difficulty in multi-objective optimization of potency and ADMET (pharmacokinetics and toxicity) at the same time. In collaboration with Kyoto University and LINC, we are building AI models for new structure generation, synthetic pathway prediction, and potency / ADMET prediction in order to speed up the medicinal chemistry process. The Unit also maintains databases for AI construction and develops design methods for new drug modalities such as mid-molecules.
