* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
・As the IFI secretariat, ICHARM provides support for establishment and operation of “IFI PLATFORM” in coordination with relevant overseas organizations. ICHARM lacks researchers who can coordinate and discuss with such organizations with advanced communication skills. In particular, ICHARM needs researchers with extensive international experience and knowledge to discuss and coordinate with governmental officers and candidates of facilitators with various background.
・ICHARM lacks researchers who can conduct research on the development and utilization of OSS-SR and E-learning materials.
・ICHARM lacks instructors who can give lectures on hydrology or disaster management to understand water disaster risks in the master's program conducted by ICHARM.
[Work content and job description]
(1)Contribute to the “Platform on Water Resilience and Disasters” project led by the International Flood Initiative (IFI) by supporting project participating countries in establishing a platform and conducting subsequent activities while actively engaging in discussions with stakeholders in respective countries, particularly the two newly participating countries, Thailand and Vietnam.
(2)Conduct research on reducing water-related disaster damage using the Online Synthesis System for Sustainability and Resilience (OSS-SR), while supporting respective countries with the platform project.
(3)Develop e-learning materials and conduct research on their effective use to improve the platform's operation.
(4)Fulfill the responsibilities assigned to the position as a member of ICHARM, which serves as the IFI secretariat.
(5)Provide training, lectures, and guidance to overseas trainees and students participating in ICHARM’s training or educational programs.
(6)Participate in other initiatives promoted by ICHARM to reduce water-related disaster damage, including involvement in international projects and information networking activities.

Wage per class Amount:18200 yen - 20880 yen
Wages description:The salary will be provided within the following range, depending on work experience and other considerations (as of February 2024).
JPY 18,200 to 20,880 per day
(When permanent staff salaries are revised, the salaries of research specialists may also be subject to revision accordingly.)

Break time:12:00-13:00
Holidays :Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and New Year holidays (29 December to 3 January)
