* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The successful applicant will be engaged in evaluating and improving a global cloud-resolving model against satellite observations with a specific focus on cloud, convection and precipitation processes and their interactions with large-scale meteorological fields. In particular, satellite signal simulators will be extensively used to generate satellite observables from the model for consistent comparisons with corresponding satellite measurements.

The work will be carried out as part of “Predictive understanding of Earth system changes based on physical evidence” in the MEXT-Program for the Advanced Studies of Climate Change Projection and of the Japanese office of the Earth CARE-model collaborative project in JAXA (see here for details of the Earth CARE mission).
