The Center for the Development of Global Leadership Education (GLP) at the University of Tokyo invites applications for a Project teaching faculty. The Center is responsible for the university’s innovative, transdisciplinary undergraduate Global Leadership Education Program (GLP) and the running of its senior division program (Year 3 and 4) called GEfIL (Global Education for Innovation and Leadership). Required Qualifications

Applicants are required to have:

  • PhD. or achievements recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D.
  • Extensive teaching and research experience in English, and communication skills.
  • Excellent command of Japanese (spoken for official meetings and written for official documents)
  • Experience in curriculum development and academic program management
  • Good understanding of trends in Higher Education around the world.
  • Strong network with international academics, universities, and research institutions

  • Development and execution of courses in global education
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the teaching of GLP-GEfIL courses
  • Organization of the GLP-GEfIL Abroad Programs and liaising with international partner institutions; investigating opportunities for joint abroad programs with top-level international universities
  • Advising students on choice of study abroad programs and/or internships, and supporting them
  • Review and research on international collaborative programs with overseas universities
  • Review and research on GLP-GEfIL learning outcomes
  • Any other work related to international education 
  • Salary and Allowances

    The gross salary is JPY 7,200,000 –JPY 10,800,000 per year

    Commuting allowance (basically up to JPY 55,000 /month) if you meet the requirements for the payment

  • Description of achievements (in international education, research and experience in management of international education programs) [Both in English (1,000 words) and Japanese (2,000 characters)]
  • Statement of interest in GLP-GEfIL Program [Both in English (1,000 words) and Japanese (2,000 characters)]
  • List of the name and contact details (name, affiliation, telephone number, and e-mail address) of referees (minimum 2)
  • Certificate of final academic qualification and graduation certificates from bachelor degree level (undergraduate)

    Short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview and give trial lesson (in person or online), which will take place in April-May 2023.

    * Travel expenses for the interview will not be reimbursed by the University of Tokyo.
