* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Institute of Space-Earth Environmental Research (ISEE)*1, Nagoya University is a Joint Usage/Research Center in Japan that uniquely combines two fields of research: space science and Earth science. ISEE aims to investigate a range of phenomena arising from an integrated approach to the holistic systems of the Earth, the Sun, and the Space. ISEE aims to contribute to solutions for global environmental issues and the development of human society spreading out into space by elucidating the Earth, Sun, and Space as a holistic system as well as examining the mechanisms and interactions of various phenomena. ISEE has organized the Center for Integrated Data Science (CIDAS)*2 to promote research and development of high-level analyses based on large-scale data on the space-earth environment and advanced computer simulations. The Division of Integrated Studies*3 conducts integrated analytical studies for a comprehensive understanding and prediction of the Sun-Earth system. The Division of Integrated Studies conducts graduate school education through cooperative courses with the Department of Science/Graduate School of Science and Department of Engineering/Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University.

[Work content and job description]
ISEE is presently seeking an associate professor to work in both CIDAS and the Division of Integrated Studies. This position requires well-established expertise and ability for promoting integrated study of heliospheric system science, in particular, the terrestrial and planetary magnetosphere-ionosphere as well as interplanetary space phenomena, based on high-level data analysis and advanced computer simulations. The successful candidate will lead the development and operation of research infrastructure for data science of the space and earth environment. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to collaborate with other researchers of ISEE. ISEE is interested in candidates who will provide education for undergraduate and graduate students of the Integrated Studies Division and foster young researchers as a cooperative faculty of the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University. The successful candidate is required to contribute to the role of ISEE as Joint Usage/Research Center in Japan and develop international collaborative research and field-integrated research of the space-earth environment.
