Appendix
1. Initial term of employment is 5 years, and an additional term of employment is limited to an additional 5 years. To qualify for a tenure position, the candidate’s performance during employment will be evaluated by the end of the contract term.

2. The Laboratory of Timber Engineering constitutes the Research Group of Forest Science, together with seven other laboratories, namely, Silviculture and Forest Ecology, Ecosystem Management, Earth Surface Processes and Land Management, Forest Policy, Woody Plant Biology, Forest Bioresource Technology, and Wood Chemistry.

3. The successful applicant will partly or fully give the lectures listed below, for which the Laboratory of Timber Engineering is responsible.
(1) Subjects in the Graduate School of Agriculture: Study on Agriculture Science Ⅰ & Ⅱ, Seminar on Agriculture Science Ⅰ & Ⅱ, Advanced Timber Engineering, Advanced Forest Resources Science and Advanced Forest Products Science Ⅱ.
(2) Subjects in the School of Agriculture: Structural Mechanics Ⅰ & Ⅱ, Exercise on Structural Mechanics Ⅰ & Ⅱ, Anatomy and Physics of Wood Materials Ⅰ & Ⅱ, Wood Based Materials, Introduction to Polymer Science, Introduction to Physics, Laboratory Work on Timber Engineering, Laboratory Work on Anatomy and Physics of Wood Materials, Practical Field Work on Conversion and Engineering of Forest Products, Field Work on Forest Science I & II, International Practical Field Work on Forest Science and Graduation Thesis.
(3) Subjects in the General Education: English Seminar “Introduction to Forest Science”, Freshman Seminar “Introduction of Forest Science” and Laboratory Exercise in Natural Sciences.

4. The Laboratory of Timber Engineering is working on quantitative evaluation of mechanical properties of wood and wood-based materials for architectural structures and furniture, based on wood physics and structural mechanics. The laboratory also conducts education and research on the wood processing technology, design methods for timber structures and the evaluation of the resistance of standing trees to strong wind.
