* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
Laboratory of Systems Optimization and Decision Making, Division of Mathematical Science for Social Systems, Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University is studying Decision Making and Optimization. Especially, in order to make the decision support flexible but robust, we are investigating theories and models treating vague preference and imprecise knowledge as well as decision analysis, optimization techniques, and data analysis with full consideration of flexibility and robustness. The laboratory is now seeking a member of the academic staff, who is making theoretical/methodological studies with a great interest in the practical applications in at least one of the following fields: (a) Operations Research, Systems Optimization, Decision Analysis, and Algorithms, or (b) Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, and Soft Computing. Moreover, the person should have the potential to bring great success in the laboratory’s research and development with a flexible attitude. The successful applicant will be responsible for not only research but also the education at the undergraduate, and graduate levels. Inquiries concerning the research contents and policies are welcome.
