Offer Description

The research activity is a part of the PRIN PNRR 2022 “Petrarch and the Reformation: Paths of a Troubled Reception”. The research project aims to reconstruct the ways through which Petrarchan ideas and themes spread in the age of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation in the Protestant area. The Perugia-Foreigners Unit will define the milieus where Petrarch's “De sui ipsius et multorum ignorantia” was diffused and will evaluate the impact of European circulation and reuse of the polemical pamphlet by examining the texts of a selected group of authors. The research fellow will study the manuscript and printed tradition of Petrarch’s treatise and from this analysis she/he will obtain useful elements to identify the criteria for inclusion of the treatise in humanist collections, and the circles in which these collections were produced and in which Petrarch’s text circulated. Paleographic and codicological skills and knowledge of the Latin language are required.
