Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 21 Oct 2021

One first stage research position (starting from a 12-month contract from November 2021) is available at the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano. The successful candidate will join the team of NEWMED research project funded by Regione Lombardia (https://www.cmic.polimi.it/en/magazine/molecular-sciences/newmed/ ). This project aims at developing engineered nanoparticles with complex architecture to ensure targeted delivery of drugs for the treatment of heart diseases. Controlled polymerisation techniques, nanoprecipitation and bioconjugation will be utilised for the production functional nanocarriers which are traceable in vitro and in vivo (with fluorinated contrast agents), and are able to increase the half-life and the selectivity of the therapeutic molecules (epigenetic drugs) at the targeted site.

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher holding a Master degree in Chemical, Biomedical or Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related fields with the drive to pursue a challenging multi-disciplinary project. The research activity will focus on organic synthesis, polymer chemistry and physicochemical characterisation of the nanomaterials. A good understanding of drug delivery, as well as nanotechnology and nanomedicine will be appreciated.
