SYStem-level, ThErmal-hydraulic Modeling for Fusion Reactors - Ref. 187/2021-AR

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: 13 Sep 2021

The framework of the activity is the EUROfusion consortium, with reference to the design of the EU DEMO fusion reactor, and the collaboration with other research institutes and companies (e.g. DTT project and ENI).
Within this context, the proposing group contributes in particular to the modeling aspects. The main objective is the integrated modeling (especially at a system level) of all the main sub-systems of a nuclear fusion plants, among which the breeding blanket, the component subject to most of the heat load, and the balance-of-plant, i.e. the components used to convert the thermal energy into electricity; in the last years the activity has led to the development of a dedicated computational tool for fusion reactors, the GETTHEM code (GEneral Tokamak THErmal-hydraulic Model), applied and ready to be furtherly applied for design verification and accidental transient analyses.
