YOUR TEAM

The successful candidate will be part of the Polymers and Biomaterials research line, headed by Prof. Nicola Tirelli and located in Genova at the Centre for Convergent Technologies. The activity of the group is at the intersection between polymer and colloid chemistry, nanomaterials and drug delivery; this project fits in the latter area, aiming to develop new technologies for the delivery of active compounds.

 In particular, the work programme for this project aims

a) to further the development of microencapsulation technologies where fungal (yeast) cells are used as containers;

b) to produce new polymeric materials and/or bioconjugates for anti-infammatory therapies;

c) to develop new analytical techniques for biomaterial characterization. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree in a pharmaceutical discipline. 
  • PhD in drug delivery, or in a cognate discipline.
  • Experience in physico-chemical characterization of nanomaterials via static and dynamic light scattering, and via field flow fractionation.
  • Experience in the use of rheological and mechanical characterization techniques.
  • Experience in mammalian or fungal cell culture and standard cell biology techniques.        
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English 

DESIDERABLE CRITERIA: 

  • Experience in the use of bioconjugation reactions.
  • Experience in the use of polysaccharides for drug delivery.
  • Experience in the use of advanced microscopy techniques.
  • Experience in the use of biological inflammatory models.
