YOUR TEAM

The selected candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, physicists and engineers. At IIT, state-of-the-art chemistry and biology laboratories for material preparation, cellular culturing and characterization, as well as a full-equipped animal facility, are available.

The Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications Research Line (NABM) line is coordinated by Teresa Pellegrino who has extensive experience in nanomaterials for biomedical applications, including drug delivery and hyperthermia.   

The project will focus on the application of magnetic nanoparticles platforms and magnetic scaffolds as drug delivery, heat mediators, tumor differentiation and immune responsive studies in 2D and 3D in vitro studies involving also cancer stem cells. The candidate will be working full time on these subjects in collaboration with other group members of the team already involved in the biological studies of nanomaterials.

The candidate will accomplish tasks within the AIRC  project related to cancer cells and immune cells testing in presence of different magnetic nanomaterials and magnetic scaffolds. 

This open position is financed by Italian association of cancer research (AIRC) within the AIRC investigator grant project assigned to Teresa Pellegrino for the year 2024 (G.A. 29323) 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • A medical or a biology degree and a PhD title on cancer and/or immunology study
  • A previous experience as a biologist or oncologist or immunologist in the field of cancer study
  • A previous experience in the biological studies of nanomaterials.
  • Previous experience in project related to cancer cells and immune cells testing in presence of different magnetic nanomaterials and magnetic scaffolds. 
  • Knowledge of real time polymerase chain reaction, immuno-fluorescent techniques, confocal microscopy studies, cell processing and analysis for TEM and SEM, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation methods, stem cell culture, immune cells culturing and isolation 
  • Strong publication record
  • Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
  • Documented experience in coaching junior scientists
  • Good command of spoken and written English

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Previous experience of the candidate in stem cellular fields and/or immunology are considered preferential selection criteria
  • Previous experience of the candidate in in vivo studies involving nanomaterials (quantum dots, metallic nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles, nanotubes) is not required but highly welcome
  • Previous experience in nanotechnology
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving attitude
  • High motivation to learn
  • Spirit of innovation and creativity
  • Good at time and priority management
  • Previous work experience in an international environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
