Offer Description
Sodium-based batteries, and in particular Na-ion batteries (SIBs), are among the emerging chemistries, because of their low cost, similar chemistry with traditional lithium systems (LIBs), and precursor’s abundance on the earth’s crust. This emerging cell technology based on organic solvent or aqueous electrolytes can use existing Li-ion production lines and could reach energy densities close to current LIBs if high performance positive electrode materials can be identified.
Spun nanofibers of (MgCoNiCuZn) HEO were successfully used as anode material for LIBs, showing good long-term cyclability (390 mAh g-1 after 300 cycles at 0.5 A g-1). In this context, operando and ex-situ spectroscopy techniques such as x-ray methods represent an invaluable tool, coupled to conventional ex-situ analyses, in the study of battery materials. In particular, while the strong selectivity of x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) for atomic species allows monitoring their local
