Offer Description
In systemic autoimmune diseases, the identification of circulating biomarkers remains an unmet clinical priority. Despite progress in detecting candidate molecules, limited evidence and poor standardisation of laboratory methods still hinder their routine use. This need is particularly relevant in chronic inflammatory arthritis, where distinguishing psoriatic from rheumatoid forms may be challenging, and in systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome, increasingly managed with targeted therapies. The project will focus on drugs modulating lymphocyte function and on related biomarkers and autoantibodies, an area of specific interest for our Unit. Its aim is to identify and validate them in mono- and multicentre cohorts, improving early diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring and prediction of therapeutic response. The teaching activities that the Researcher will be required to carry out, within the framework of the Department’s teaching planning, shall include assistance with examinations, tutoring of students preparing their final dissertations and postgraduate trainees, as well as teaching assignments entrusted as institutional and additional duties. The Researcher shall also provide student support services for the Degree Programmes in which the Scientific-Disciplinary Sector MEDS-09/C "Rheumatology" is involved. The successful candidate will act as coordinator of clinical and laboratory activities in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Unit. The researcher will identify patients affected by rare and complex autoimmune diseases at onset to analyse cytokines’ pattern and/or lymphocytes’ fenotypes and circulating autoantibodies in order find specific disease’ subtypes responding to target drugs.
This clinical-laboratory activity would be performed also before starting taget biologicals drugs in oder to verufy the modulation of cytokines’ and cellualre expression.
This is defined as “teat to target” approach.
