for the development of advanced and innovative biotechnologies to reduce marine pollution from
microplastics and possible polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals associated with
them and their impact on marine organisms, with particular focus on benthic environments. The
candidate will conduct laboratory experiments to study strains of bacteria capable of
degrading/detoxifying microplastics and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals
associated with them, as well as laboratory experiments for bioremediation approaches, aimed
at studying and increasing the microbial biodegradation through biostimulation and/or
bioaugmentation approaches. The candidate will make use of the new infrastructures (mainly
OR4-Fano) acquired as part of the PON "PRIMA."
