Lipid nanoparticles for anticancer brain drug targeting

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Deadline: 03 Jul 2022

The research activity will focus on the development of lipid carriers for the brain targeting of anticancer drugs used in the treatment of medulloblastoma. The project contemplates the formulation, characterization, and optimization of carriers, such as solid lipid nanoparticles or nanostructured lipid carriers, decorated with peptides or proteins. The functionalization is aimed at bypassing the blood-brain barrier and increasing the accumulation in the tumour cells. The carriers, prepared with scalable methodologies, will be characterized for their physic-chemical/technological (e.g., size distribution, zeta-potential, physical and chemical stability) and biological (es., cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, cell uptake, intracellular distribution) properties.
