Hydraulic Power Take Off - Ref. 185/2021-AR

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: 13 Sep 2021

In recent decades, the latest generation of Wave Energy Converters (WEC) and Offshore Wind Systems (OWS) has reached such a development that it can also be implemented in ocean scenarios, where the available renewable resource could meet global energy needs. The use of these devices in the ocean environment requires the use of hydraulic transmissions designed ad-hoc to meet the power requirements, which manifests itself with large forces / torques and low speeds / frequencies. To meet political and market needs, research is still needed on key aspects of design and development of such systems. For the design, development and optimization process of a floating WEC / OWS, it is necessary to develop numerical models and control techniques of hydraulic transmissions that ensure reliability of the design process and high controllability in real conditions.
