Offer Description

Solid tumors have a very complex biology to be interpreted through the simultaneous evaluation of neoplastic cells and cells of the microenvironment. The study of the tumor microenvironment has completely transformed our tumor cell-centric view of tumor biology. Fibroblasts, immune cells, blood vessels and the extracellular matrix work in concert to establish an environment conducive to the growth and survival of cancer cells and their metastatic dissemination. A deeper understanding of the mechanisms involved in tumor microenvironment formation revealed that their perturbation has profound consequences on tumor progression and that they represent an interesting set of new therapeutic approaches for cancer treatment. The candidate will try to investigate the role of the tumor microenvironment in patients affected by gastrointestinal neoplasms and evaluate the feasibility of new therapeutic approaches
