The technologist will be responsible for developing and applying biotechnologies (in vitro cultures and New Genomic Techniques-NGT) to the grapevine sector to obtain plants with improved agronomic traits (disease resistance and resilience).

Skills/Qualifications
Under the supervision of the PI, the selected technologist will deal with:
- In vitro cultures: culturing grapevine flowers to obtain embryogenic callus, maintaining callus and plants in vitro, in vitro plant propagation, preparation of culture media;
- Development and application of NGT (DNA-free gene editing and cisgenesis): application and optimization of transfection, classical genetic transformation, and plant regeneration protocols from grapevine callus;
- Vector cloning, preparation of DNA and RNA samples, sequencing;
- Support in greenhouse plant maintenance;
- Coordination with technicians and collaborators.
Specific Requirements
- Master of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Science and Technology, Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, Chemical Sciences;
- Knowledge of Italian (minimum level C1) and English (minimum level B1), evaluated during the interview.

Eligibility criteria

Selection process
By qualifications as expressed in Annex A (maximum 30 points) and interview (maximum 70 points). The results of the selection are based on the sum of the points awarded for the two phases of the selection process.
During the interview, which will be conducted in Italian and English, the following knowledge will be verified (maximum 70 points):
- In vitro culture techniques (maximum 20 points);
- Molecular biology techniques (maximum 20 points);
- Plant transformation and/or transfection techniques (maximum 10 points);
- New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) and their use for gene function studies and molecular breeding (maximum 15 points);
- Employee rights and duties and FEM organization (maximum 5 points).
In the interview, the candidate must achieve a minimum score of 40/70 points.
On the basis of the information provided exclusively in the application (Annex A), FEM will select and admit to the interview the best 15 candidates evaluated based on the following criteria (maximum 30 points):
- Experimental thesis relevance and alignment with the required position: in vitro cultures, NGTs, grapevine biotechnologies (3 points);
- Work experience in the field of plant biotechnology at Research Institutes/Universities/Public Entities/Private Companies/Associations (1.5 points every 3 continuous months, up to a maximum of 15 points);
- Scientific publications with Impact Factor in the field of molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and pathology applied to plants (1 point per publication up to a maximum of 7 points);
- Presentations at national and international conferences in oral or poster form, conference proceedings, book chapters, technical-scientific publications without Impact Factor made in the last 10 years (reference date is the deadline of this announcement), in the field of molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and pathology applied to plants (0.5 points per publication/proceeding/act up to a maximum of 5 points).

Candidates admitted to the interview phase will be invited, via e-mail (not by certified email, a.k.a. PEC), sent to the contact address used to send the curriculum and the application (Annex A), at the Fondazione E. Mach in San Michele all'Adige (TN) or via videoconference on June 10 and/or June 11, 2024.
Each admitted candidate must attend the interview, where they must present a valid photographic identification document, or if held in remote videoconferencing, the document must be presented in advance. Late arrival or failure to appear at the interview will result in exclusion from the selection process.
