Offer Description

The project Focused rEsistome-Mobilome genes in aTmosphere-Ocean continuum, FEMTO aims to broaden understanding of the pathways and intensity of gene transfer of the resistome-mobilome in the ocean-atmosphere continuum. The successful candidate will:

1) sample the seawater and Seaspray aerosol microbial community in the Gulf of Trieste (North Adriatic Sea) and in Panarea (South Tyrrhenian Sea);

2) extract the DNA and mRNA (a few samples only) for 16S rDNA sequencing and shotgun sequencing (metaG and metaT)

3) via bioinformatic pipeline, she/he will identify the microbial community structure and resistome-mobilome cluster genes.
