FELIX - Stable isotope analysis for the study of cat-human interactions in the past

Updated: almost 3 years ago
Deadline: 18 Aug 2021

The postdoc will work on the ERC-funded project “Felix” to conduct hydrogen stable-isotope analysis on ancient cats and other faunal remains. The results will be integrated with carbon and nitrogen stable isotope data to reconstruct cat dietary habits, trophic levels, and to investigate the potential of hydrogen stable-isotopes as proxy for geographic origin.

Key tasks:
- Preparing bone and dentine samples for isotope analysis.
- Data analysis and interpretation of stable isotope data.
- Contributing to written and oral dissemination of research.

Applicants must hold a degree and PhD in biology, archaeology, earth science or similar. Experience in preparation of samples for isotope analysis, and its application in archaeology is essential. Familiarity with mass spectrometry techniques is desirable. Demonstrated ability to present research results in international academic contexts and write papers in peer-reviewed journals is also required.
