FELIX - PALEGENOMICS AND POPULATION GENOMICS OF ANCIENT CATS (FELIS SILVESTRIS)

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: 18 Aug 2021

The postdoc will work on the ERC-funded project “Felix” to conduct paleogenomic analyses on ancient cats. The goal is to generate and analyze genome-wide data from historic and prehistoric specimens to reconstruct the dispersal of domestic cats with humans, admixture events between wild and domestic cat populations, and selective processes in the past.Key tasks:
- Analysis of high-throughput DNA sequencing data from archaeological samples.- Development of targeted-enrichment assays.- Population genomic analysis of ancient DNA data. - Written and oral dissemination of research. Applicants must hold a degree and PhD in biology, bioinformatics or similar. Experience in bioinformatics andcomputational genomics, as well as familiarity with handling NGS data is essential. Proficiency in ancient DNA wet lab analyses is desirable. Demonstrated ability to present research results in international academic contexts and write papers in peer-reviewed journals is also required.
