Offer Description

Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders represent one of the great health challenges of this century. The impact on the daily life of patients affected by brain diseases is severe, and the economic burden approaches 1 trillion € only in Europe. In the field of nanotechnology, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene have demonstrated an exceptional potential for improving
cellular function and are therefore ideal candidates for repairing or enhancing the defects of neurovascular units (NV) in brain
tissue. The aim of the activity is to develop a new generation of nano-engineered tools,combining the innovative technology of Organs-on-a-Chip (OoC), microfluidic cell culture microchips, with the strong potential of carbon-based nanomaterials (CBMs) to restore neurovascular communication at the brain level following mechanical damage.
