Network softwarization (NetSoft) is a dominant research area in today's tlc scenario. This new paradigm has revolutionized the approach to network design and operations, as well as the tlc market. Machine learning (ML) has emerged as a powerful source of new tools and algorithms to solve the several complex problems implied by NetSoft and automation. This research project aims at exploring NetSoft to identify unsolved problems and exploiting ML to propose solutions. The 3-year project will entail the following steps: 1. Identification of problems and open issues in NetSoft, based on an extensive literature survey; 2. Formal definition of problems; 3. Development of ML solutions; 4. Development of testbeds/experimental facilities; 5. Analysis and publication of results. The following usecases will be considered: management and control of enterprise networks (SD-WAN, IoT, smart factory), 5G, Cloud networking (intra/inter datacenter)
