Job Type: Temporary
Deadline: 30 Aug 2021

The project aims to investigate morphological and molecular aspects of the cellular response to redox stressors in pathophysiological conditions such as cancer, neurodegeneration, obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Research activities will include the study of modulators of stress response pathways including pharmacological and natural molecules, such as micronutrients and antioxidants (i.e. selenium and vitamin E), sulfur-containing amino acids and melatonin. The project will include studies on the metabolism of cellular thiols, protein glutathionylation, and mechanisms of physical and functional interaction of GST with proteins of: 1) stress pathways (endoplasmic reticulum stress, autophagy and Nrf2/Keap1 pathway); 2) inflammatory pathways and cell cycle regulation; 3) lipotoxicity and cell death programs; 4) stem cell cytoprotection and differentiation pathways.
