Offer Description

The planned activity is part of the project entitled "PR FESR STRUVITE". The objective of the project is to reduce the nitrogen and phosphorus content present in different types of wastewater, in order to recover fertilizing elements and reduce emissions of ammonia, methane and N2O into the atmosphere. The recovered nitrogen and phosphorus will produce a renewable, slow-release fertilizer (struvite) that can replace mineral fertilizers.
The research activity involves the evaluation of the environmental impact of the struvite and biochar production processes and the study of the effect that the application of these compounds has on agricultural soils. The research will be carried out using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology which allows the evaluation of environmental impacts along the life cycle of a product. The RothC model will be applied to calculate soil carbon storage as a function of the parameters of the soil improver, climate and pedology.
