AMLETO - Radio-Frequency (RF) Feeds with Integrated RF, Mechanical and Thermal Functions

Antenna feeds for satellite telecommunications consist of several functional elements, thus resulting in high mechanical complexity. In addition to radio-frequency constraints, there are also mechanical and thermal requirements that need to be incorporated into the design. These constraints add more complexity and further increase the number of parts in the design. This project investigates new approaches for the design of complex radio-frequency feeds for telecommunication missions that can benefit from the large degree of freedom provided by additive manufacturing. The objective of the activity is to develop and test an almost monolithic breadboard of a complex, thermally stable, high power antenna-feed chain.
