The Department of Political Science of the University ROMA TRE (Rome, Italy) invites applications for 2 postdoctoral scholarships. The scholarships are awarded for 1 year (with the possibility to be renewed up to 3 years).

Project background

The positions are part of the ERC-funded research project “A global economic organization in the early modern period: The Custody of the Holy Land through its account books (1600-1800)” (HOLYLAB), directed by Prof. Felicita Tramontana. The aim of the project is to study the Franciscan Custody’s economic organization in the early modern period and, in so doing, to address more general issues concerning the global circulation of people, money and objects and the organization of early modern institutions. In order to do so the project relies on an extensive corpus of account books issued by the headquarters of the Custody of the Holy Land and its commissariats spread all over Europe. Job description

The successful candidates will support the Principal Investigator in the implementation of the project and more specifically they will carry out the following research activities:

- Collect data from the account books of the commissariats of the Custody of the Holy Land (kept in the Archive of the Sacred Congregation De Propaganda Fide in Rome) and insert them in the project database;

- Perform a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data;

- Prepare a paper and an article on topics related to the research project.

GROSS AMOUNT (paid in monthly installments), comprehensive of all fees due by the Administration): € 40.000,00
