Postdoc positions in experimental quantum materials research

Two fully-funded postdoc positions are available in the condensed matter physics department at Tel Aviv University, Israel. We are looking for postdoc candidates with excellent track records in quantum materials research.

Information about the projects:

1). Ultrafast quantum materials lab (Dr. Hadas Soifer) - In our lab, we use time-resolved photoemission (trARPES) to study electron dynamics and nonlinear optical properties of quantum materials. In this particular project, we are interested in understanding and controlling photocurrents generated in topological states. You will perform time-resolved ARPES studies and develop new optical schemes to control currents in topological materials. Required expertise in at least one of the following areas: ultrafast and pump-probe spectroscopy, ARPES, and spectroscopies of quantum materials.

#ERC funded # Ph.D. positions also available

Start date: flexible

To apply, please email [email protected] with the title “postdoc position in UQM.”

2) Correlated quantum materials lab (Prof. Yoram Dagan) - You will study unconventional superconductors and quantum phenomena in oxide heterostructures, performing transport measurements at dilution refrigerator and other cryogenic systems, using low-temperature magnetic force microscope, growing samples, and optimizing material properties. Required strong background in physics of quantum materials, expertise in low-temperature measurements, and reducing noise in transport measurements. Prior experience in pulse laser deposition and nanofabrication is an advantage. The deadline for application is January 7th, 2023. Starting date upon acceptance or no later than April 2nd, 2023.

Environment:

The condensed matter physics department at Tel Aviv University is a highly collaborative and supportive environment with strong experimental and theoretical groups.  Cutting-edge and varied experimental infrastructure for quantum materials research. You will also be a part of campus-wide research centers (center for light-matter interactions, center for quantum physics, and nano center).  Tel Aviv is a very international coastal city with a lively atmosphere and vibrant nightlife.

Requirements

Postdoctoral candidates should hold a Ph.D. (or can certify that they have fulfilled the requirements towards their Ph.D.) in a relevant area of physics and have excellent publication records, technical skills, and independence. Fluent English and writing proficiency are required.

How to apply

Please send an email to Prof. Dagan for position #2 ([email protected] ) or Dr. Soifer for position #1 ([email protected] ). Include the following documents:

  • Cover letter (max 1 page)
  • CV+list of publications
