The Department of Ancient Classics in Maynooth is happy to advertise a post of University Tutor in ancient languages, starting from 1 September 2022. The post will be initially filled for a five-year period (2022-2027) and is designed to aid the Department in rebuilding after recent retirements. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and engaging teacher, with experience in designing individual modules, programmes, and teaching materials for Latin and ancient Greek languages. He/she will be expected to teach modules primarily in introductory and intermediate Latin, but possibly also introductory-intermediate Greek. He/she may also be invited to contribute more advanced language modules and modules in translation at the undergraduate level.

The University Tutor plays an important role in the delivery of many of the University’s academic programmes and is appointed for the primary purpose of contributing to teaching within a clear and established teaching programme by providing tuition and/or demonstrations to groups of, usually undergraduate students, in specific aspects of the programme. The University Tutor assists and supports students to further develop their understanding of key course topics and to draw out key learning points from course materials.

Salary

University Tutor:                                                €37,972 – €49,061 per annum pro rata (7 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.
