The UCD Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, Education, and Innovation in Health Systems (IRIS),
in the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems is seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Level 2) to work on the Health Service Executive funded project `Development of a national quality and patient safety competency framework'.
This 2-year programme of work will collaborate closely with partners in the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Directorate of the Health Service Executive to conduct literature reviews of existing approaches and frameworks used to build QPS competence to identify and collate QPS competencies and competency frameworks and associated pathways to support the development of capability and skill acquisition among healthcare staff and patient/public representatives. The research will engage with, and collect data from, current quality and patient safety managers, leads and teams, and patient representatives, to establish the current landscape of QPS education and learning in Ireland. Employing a co-design/co-production approach, this research will draw on this collated evidence to design, develop and evaluate a process to support the development of a QPS competencies framework.
The Post-doctoral Research Fellow will work as part of the UCD/HSE team conducting this research programme, where the successful candidate will work under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr Aoife De Brun. The Research Fellow will work in collaboration with the HSE QPS Education team to align and integrate the learning and outputs from the research programme to support the development of a national QPS competency framework. The key responsibilities of the role will be leading the recruitment of participants, data collection and analysis, dissemination, and preparation of outputs. An important component of this role will be to develop and maintain relationships across the health service and partner organisations.
This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.
* Liaise with staff at all levels in the healthcare system to develop research proposals.
* Maintain regular communication with all partners, stakeholders and funders associated with the project.
* Develop detailed work plans and timelines for specific projects.
* Lead data collection, management, and data analysis.
* Draft progress reports for research funders throughout project lifecycles.
* Identify additional funding opportunities and grant writing to secure additional funds
* Draft publications and outputs for dissemination.
* Advise PhD, M.Sc. students and other research staff and occasional teaching to Masters level students.
Salary: € 46,906 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
