Applications are invited for a Temporary 12 month post(s) of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 - (Research & Development Innovation Officer) within UCD School of Chemistry - Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI)
The Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI) is a leading European Centre for BioNano Interaction science, and draws together specialists from its Universities, Institutes, and companies. The centre is a multi- disciplinary platform for nanosafety, nanobiology and nanomedicine, and is pioneering many of the new techniques and approaches in the arena. CBNI seeks to set standards through commitment to excellence in research and innovation, blended with caution and attention to detail in science, and public dissemination.
This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.
The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

These individuals will have expertise and research experience in any relevant arena of physiochemical, chemical and biophysical, engineering or related fields, especially applicable to the synthesis and characterisation of complex bionanoparticles, and their interaction in a biological environment. It would be an advantage if the candidate were familiar with advanced analytical and biophysical methods involving protein-protein and other bimolecular interactions. It is also desirable, but not essential, that candidates have experience in working with various biotechnological separation and analysis technologies, and many of the applications involve studies in complex biological milieu. The candidates will have expertise that fits into the main research themes of the CALIN Operation and CBNI and a willingness to work at the interface between nanoscience and biology. The research scientist will be responsible for conducting all feasibility and medium-term research activities and will also be involved in the delivery of network conferences and technology workshop events.
