This is a part-time position based on an average of 17.2 hours per week or 68.8 hours over any given 4-week period, though the maximum hours in production and festival weeks can be as much as 40-50 hours. Weekly working hours may vary considerably from week to week according to theatre usage patterns. It is anticipated that working schedules will be finalized a minimum of two weeks in advance with longer notice given of the known intensive production and festival periods. The role will have responsibility to provide appropriate, proactive, and creative technical production support for performances and activities in the Samuel Beckett Theatre to include all internal theatre use by Trinity staff/students, external theatre hires and research collaborations. No direct responsibility but supervision of students will be required.

Salary: This appointment will be made pro-rata on the Technical Officer Salary Scale (€35,382 - €54,786 per annum pro-rata). at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)

  • Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience in a technical theatre environment. Applicants should clearly address this experience and how they obtained their knowledge in their application.
  • An understanding of the theatre production process and facilitating student engagement through demonstration, technical workshops and as mentor to student crew on production projects is essential. The applicant should give examples of their involvement in creative arts and the education/youth sector and what the applicant learned from this process.
  • Illustrate, through past example, their ability to work on their own initiative, accommodate varying working schedules and resolve problems across a team that is working in a busy environment.
