The Role

Computer Music and Music Technology are important areas of expertise and excellence in the Music Department. Since its inception, in 1999, the Music Technology Studios have been very successful in their two main goals: supporting research and providing an environment for technology teaching in Music. Four music studios and an iMac workstation lab support the teaching of the undergraduate Music programmes offered by the Department, as well as in the postgraduate degrees. In addition, a number of research PhDs undertake work in areas such as electroacoustic music, computer music systems and musical signal processing. The Music Technology Studios also provide the infrastructure for many activities and pursuits outside of the normal programme.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Technical Officer who reports directly to the Head of Department and works under the day-to-day management of their nominee/s. While demonstrating a high level of initiative in pursuing self-directed work and excellent time management, the ideal candidate  will also have an understanding and ability to articulate within of all of the applications of music technology supported by the Music Department, including sound engineering, music production, audio programming, electroacoustic composition, sound design, surround sound, MIDI sequencing, hardware prototyping, field recording and modular synthesis.

Technical Officer (2022) Salary Scale:                        €41,990 – €55,459 p.a. (7 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
