We are seeking a temporary, part time (0.2 FTE) Technical Officer to join our team of 2 technical staff in the Bio-resource Unit (BRU) which is part of the Department of Biology at Maynooth University (https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/biology). The role involves providing support to the multi-disciplinary research programmes in the department whilst complying with regulations set out in EU Directive 2010/63/EU and SI 543 of 2012.


Principal Duties

•         Responsible for day to day running of all aspects of the BRU

•         Carrying out animal welfare duties

•         Carrying out animal husbandry duties

•         Updating animal colony records and other associated documents

•         Implementing cleaning and sterilisation protocols

•         Maintaining stock levels and supplies

•         Any other duties to ensure compliance under Eu Directive 2010/63/EU and SI 543 of 2012 

•         Ensuring all departmental Health & Safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to

•         Engaging in the appropriate training and professional development opportunities as required

Technical Officer (2022):            €41,990 - €55,459 p.a. (7 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.

23:30hrs (local Irish time) on Sunday, 5th February 2023.
